I'm finally here, in the big apple, and I'm LOVING IT!!! Everything is even better than what I imagined if that's possible.
I started work on Monday. TSS (Target Sourcing Services) is AWESOME. I love the office- it's very modern and clean and there are samples of clothes and hard goods everywhere. It's so fun to run around and look at all the upcoming trends. :) I think what makes TSS NY so great is the people. Everyone is so welcoming, so nice to each other. Everyone greats you with a smile or a hello when you pass them in the halls. Everyone has been nothing but accomodating and welcoming towards me. It's been a great first week.
Our apartment is adorable. It's very girly, but subletting from a girl is MUCH better than subletting from a guy. It has everything we need, besides an iron which I need to dig in the closet to try to find, and it's very cozy. I think what I love best about it is the neighborhood. Who doesn't LOVE the upper west side. We're right off 98th and Broadway, and it's an adorable area. We're about 2 avenues from the park... which is so gorgeous and is definitely one of the best things about living on the upper west side. There are so many great places to eat and everything we could ever need within a block of us. And can I just say, there are Jews everywhere. It's not a stereotype that Jews live in the upper west side. I'm surprised if I see someone NOT wearing a kippah. Finally. After 6 months in Catholic land, I'm among my people. Jesus. No pun intended.
So, I actually had a hard time adjusting/ am still in the process. Europe is just so much more laid back, relaxed. And then I decide after 6 months to throw myself back into American life by moving to NY?? CRAZY. I've never been around more people in my life, except maybe Rome on Easter. Of course I'm taking the subway at the most popular times, and of course to get to work I have to get off at Times Square. But I swear to god, this city has a million and one people in it. And you know why? Because 2/3 of the people I work with actually live in Jersey. Yep. Coming in and crowding this city. Just kidding. I have nothing against Jersey besides the fact that clearly it's so awful they have to come to NY for work. ;)
Well besides the fact that I'm extremely busy and exhausted, nothing could be better here in NYC. Mom and Dad visit next weekend (yay July 4th and Mommy's birthday) so I'm very much looking forward to that. Enjoy your Friday and I'll keep you posted on my FAB LIFE IN THE CITY (thank you Cheryl).
